Keep the original files

General

Originals carry the date, time and device details that make your evidence credible.

The original file holds information about when and how it was captured. Editing, re-saving, or sending it through a messaging app can strip that away.

Good habits

  • Keep originals on your device or a backup, unaltered.
  • Work on copies when you crop or blur.
  • Avoid re-sending a file back and forth between apps.
  • Note anything the file cannot show, such as who else was present.
You report this yourself. Evidentor helps you gather and organise evidence. It does not send reports to the police, councils, platforms, schools or employers on your behalf.
